An astrological forecast for 2023

“These last days of the year bring the opportunity to reflect on what has been and look ahead and set intentions for the year ahead. Doing so has been important to me for as long as I remember, and astrology and meditation offer great help in my process. That is why I decided to dive deep into the astrological forecast of the year 2023 together with my friend and astrologer Christiano Greve Ormeño. Don’t expect the kind of predictions you might find in your favorite glossy magazine. This is not your average horoscope, but a form of astrology that helps me become aware of the energy in the world and in myself. What is astrology?

If astronomy describes the movement of celestial bodies, astrology translates this movement into useful information for mankind. If we presume that everything is energy, we realize that everything happening around our planet influences life on it. A very practical example is our day and night. Sunlight has the energy to give life and grow plants. When Earth moves away from the Sun, that energy is lacking. Another example is the Moon, whose gravity determines the tides. Or the seasons, determined by the positioning of the Earth relative to the Sun. All celestial bodies (or planets) influence life on Earth. And just like day and night, the tides and the seasons, cosmic movement is always cyclical.

In the same way, we know how to collect solar energy and use it to make life easier, astrology can make us more conscious of less visible energies available to us by the planets’ movement. As soon as we become conscious of this, we can learn to use that energy to our advantage. This astrological forecast is not your average horoscope but offers tools to become familiar with available energy and collaborate with it. Not by acting, but just by being conscious of it.

Imagine: you don’t know it’s winter. The sudden cold will take you by surprise, but by being conscious of the temperature outside you can prepare for it by dressing warmly. That is exactly how astrology works: an astrologer is like a cosmic weatherman. By being conscious of cosmic cycles and their influence on your personal as well as collective experience, change and the unknown won’t take you by surprise, and you will gain a better grip on life.

Astrological Forecast 2023

2022 was a practice year. Intense developments on the world’s stage have taught us to increase our adaptability at breakneck speed. Change is a constant, everything is always moving and thus in flux. Our perception eventually determines how well we can surrender and use whatever change brings us. Our true power lies in surrendering and adapting to change. By judging change or fearing it, we obstruct our development. 2022 taught us how to deal with change and disappointment by developing our capacity to harmoniously adapt. We also got to practice balancing our rationality and emotions. Those skills will be crucial to being able to surrender to the speed of change the future holds. 

2023 will be the year of in-depth knowledge. Deepening our perception and consciousness. Consciousness is the power to perceive ourselves as part of the whole. It’s not about our spiritual development, but about being conscious of everything that is. Everything is energy: the universe and the planets, but also us and the material world we live in. The integration of this realization is called holistic consciousness, and the more conscious we become of it, the more we are able to appreciate all our experiences.

Experience is life’s teacher. Everything we do, what happens to us, and what we choose is meant to grant us experience. When our consciousness deepens, we will be able to experience more easily and without judgment. Judging an experience stems from perception. The perception that an experience is unpleasant or pleasant. When we develop our consciousness, we will discover every experience is valuable, no matter how challenging. Challenge invites us to grow and that is life’s engine.

Deepening our consciousness creates the need to connect with like-minded others through a loving exchange. Those who develop their consciousness in similar ways amplify each other. That is why it is invaluable to open up and connect from our essence by sharing experiences and visions with each other. At the start of 2023, Pluto is in conjunction with Venus. The energy that this planetary position projects to Earth increases our need for connection.

Saturn and Pluto will influence our personal development by encouraging us to think in possibilities. Obstructions only exist by virtue of our own will. Pluto in Aquarius (from the end of March) helps us in becoming aware of this as a result of its strong influence on our perception in combination with Aquarius’ power for innovation. The more we perceive, the more we learn to understand and are able to know ourselves. We will discover our mental boundaries and a lot of what seemed impossible, will become possible. Technology, science, creativity, and spirituality will merge in our consciousness because our need to look at the world and ourselves more holistically, grows.

Influenced by Saturn in Pisces, spirituality will play a big part in 2023. The term spirituality has been polluted for years, influenced by dogmas that created an image of spirituality as something outside of yourself, something to be or achieve, higher than yourself. But spirituality is nothing more than being conscious of the comprehensive unity we are part of. And life in this earthly matter is a spiritual experience in itself. Greeting our fellow man on the street, treating our environment with respect, and organizing our home can all be activities just as spiritual as meditating or lighting incense. When we learn to look at all earthly things holistically, we will discover infinite possibilities, and we can realize our biggest dreams. An open mind, perseverance, creativity, and passion are the key words for 2023. Love life.

Frequently used terms

Analytical psychology
A form of psychology developed by Carl Jung. Analytical psychology focuses on what drives the human psyche. These individual drivers are located in the subconscious part of our psyche. Analytical psychology connects the consciousness to the subconsciousness. It does so by revealing subconscious drives. According to Jung, they are stored in the subconsciousness as potential ‘material’ (psychic energy), ready to be used. The only thing we must do is to make them useful for the consciousness. Analytical psychology focuses on raising awareness about the ‘unused material’ by experiencing and understanding it better.

Astrology
The science studying the psychological effects of the movement of celestial bodies on human experiences and personalities.

Consciousness
Consciousness is the human ability to experience or perceive. It is being aware of yourself and your surroundings. Consciousness is what makes humans perceptive, creative, and intelligent. 

Cosmic
Being a part of the universe. All humans are cosmic in nature because Earth is part of our universe.

Creative intelligence
The ability to always think in solutions. Creative energy is the energy that never gets stuck because the golden rule in life is that everything is forever and continuously moving.

Emotional intelligence
The ability to understand the logic of emotions and to work with them. When a person is emotionally intelligent, he or she can easily, harmoniously, focused, and effectively handle the energy and effects of their own emotions and those of others.

Emotions
Energy in movement, that can make us act or inhibit us by way of perception. 

Energy
The force that keeps everything in our universe moving.  

Full Moon
The moment the Sun is positioned exactly opposite the Moon, as seen from the Earth. The Moon is fully illuminated by the Sun at that moment.

Kosmos
A different term for the universe. Kosmos means ‘order’ in Greek.

Manifestation
Creating certain events by way of intention, combined with mental or physical power. 

Multiverse
A generic term for the infinite number of universes residing in the universe.

Psyche
The totality of the human mind, conscious and subconscious. Our psyche controls the multidimensional identity in ourselves. This aspect is (still) subconscious in most of us.

Soul
The non-material part of our consciousness that exists in a different time-space continuum than our material self. Our material self is our body and mind. The soul is the beginning of our multi-dimensional identity. 

Spiritual intelligence
The ability to see that everything that happens is connected, and to have the intention to act accordingly.

Universe
A different name for the cosmos, in which a multitude of stars, planets, galaxies, and forms of life reside.

A brief introduction on Christiano Greve Ormeño

A fascinating, spectacular, and intense search. That is how Christiano would describe his spiritual development. He began this journey at the age of 26, in the nineties: a time with a lot still to be discovered in the spiritual field. Around 1995, little was known about the transformational processes arising from personal development. Let alone any practical information. Driven by the need to manage his own discovery process, Christiano decided to get started himself. 

Through trial and error, he succeeded in controlling his emotions, focusing his thoughts, and listening to his intuition. An essential breakthrough. “I realized mastering yourself is one of the most important things in life.” The psychology of astrology and meditation played an important role: “astrology helped me to understand my own personality better and through meditation, I learned to master myself,” he says.
