THE STORY OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

Artipoppe products are created using a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. Each carrier is crafted using Artipoppe’s own jacquard fabrics made from natural yarns such as organic cashmere, linen and hemp. Zeitgeist Baby Carriers are woven and crafted by the Artipoppe teams in Lithuania and China, while Baby Wraps and Ring Slings are crafted in-house at Artipoppe’s atelier in the Netherlands. Prior to being packaged by hand at Artipoppe’s headquarters in the Netherlands, every Zeitgeist Baby Carrier undergoes a rigorous quality check, ensuring an exceptional product before being shipped to all corners of the world.

We hope you recognize and appreciate the handcrafted uniqueness of each product. Should you find any irregularities, it is important to understand how to care for them, and how to tell if something is damaged or if it is just part of the fabric’s character.

Easy fixes and natural materials

Artipoppe’s Zeitgeist is delivered to you washed, ironed and ready to use. In general, we recommend spot cleaning as needed with a soft cloth, ox gall soap and lukewarm water except with dry clean products. Should you want to wash your product, always follow the care instructions on the washing label as indicated with international washing symbols. Please consult our Care page for more information.

Loose button

Repairing a loose button is an easy fix. The button is securely attached to the carrier with a white or brown ribbon and a couple of extra stitches. In most cases, it is only the extra stitches that came loose. You can easily sew the button back on like you would do with a button that came off a jacket. Pulls

A pull is a loop of thread sticking out. It’s most often caused by nails, jewelry or simply being snagged. Even though pulls do not damage the product’s safety or comfort of the product, you could keep an eye on them, so they do not get bigger or break off.

For small pulls, please wash your item according to the care instructions on the washing label. This may tighten the fabric again and flatten out the pull.

If the pull is longer, you may try to push pull back into the fabric. Simply grasp the fabric around 30 cm (12 inches) away from the pull on either side and tug firmly. Some of the pull may ease back into the fabric just from this already. If the pull remains, take a needle or pin to start working the snag out. Insert the needle under the pulled thread a short distance away from the snag. Pull the loose thread up there. Move a tiny distance down the thread and repeat. It is important not to pull the thread up tightly as you go. The idea is to loosely redistribute the excess thread that has been pulled out of place back into the fabric and even maybe into the hem. For long pulls, it is sometimes easier to work the pull out in both directions.

Linen and hemp blends

Nubs and slubs look like short or long raised threads on the surface of the fabric. Although they stick out a bit, they are an essential characteristic of all-natural yarns like linen and hemp.

Velvet crush

Cotton velvet is a beautiful yet delicate fabric in which natural irregularities or little crushed spaces caused by packaging may occur. To restore irregularities it is advised to gently steam the crushed spots. Please note it is important to keep an appropriate amount of distance between your carrier and the steaming device.

Pilling

Cashmere blend items can pill just like any wool sweater would. It occurs when loose fibers move to the surface of the fabric causing them to twist together into small fluff balls. You may easily remove any pills with a sweater stone, fabric comb or simply by hand.

Loose threads in the hem

You can easily fix a loose hem thread by carefully snipping it with a pair of sharp scissors.

Permacrease

This is a permanent crease in fabric, often caused by ironing or folding the item the same way repeatedly. To avoid or fix permacreases, always make sure to iron and fold your Artipoppe differently.

Weaver’s knot

A weaver’s knot is an unremovable beauty mark that may occur when a knot has to be made once the spool of yarn finishes.

Felting

Felting is caused by improper washing or treatment of (wool) fabrics causing the fibers to intertwine and shrink together to form a tightly woven fabric. Heat can also cause felting. After severe felting, the fabric may become unsafe. Therefore, it is strongly advised to always follow the care instructions on the washing label.

Flaws that require professional services

Broken threads

Broken threads appear as two loose threads, generally very close to one another. Should it happen that you receive your Artipoppe with a broken thread, please contact us via  [email protected]. Threads can also break over time with normal wear, mainly if a pull is not fixed timely. Broken threads will not impact the safety or comfort of your product, but you could take care of at home by tying it off as soon as you notice it.

Shifted threads

This happens when parts of the fabric shift which causes thinner spaces or gaps in the fabric. This could impact the Baby Wrap or Ring Sling’s safety over time. Please contact us via  [email protected] for personal assistance.

Skipped threads

Skipped threads are unremovable beauty marks that occur during the fabric’s weaving process. They do not affect the item’s safety or comfort. In the small chance that you receive an item product with skipped threads, please contact us via  [email protected].
