You Rose

You Rose

Dear D,

The day my beautiful granddaughter was born was filled with prayer and trust. “You can do it,” kept circling in my mind. Watching you meet birth and motherhood with such strength and dedication moved me deeply. Remember how you cried and doubted yourself? Yes, things didn’t go perfectly. But it was all exactly as it needed to be. There is such resilience in you. When you sent me the birth video, I cried. You know that I’m not one for grand declarations, but I saw something sacred. I saw your power, dignity, and courage, and I thought: “That’s my daughter!” I feel like I saw you for the very first time. There are no words to describe just how proud I am. The day you birthed J you rose higher than ever. And what a love declaration that was from you to her. She is so lucky to have you (and so am I).
