FAQ

All Artipoppe woven wraps, ring slings and baby carriers are designed for ergonomic babywearing only, meaning:

  • upright carrying only, with legs out and baby’s hands close to baby’s chest or mouth to support the fetal tuck position.
  • Spread Squatting Position, the knees are at or above the level of baby’s bum.
  • Sufficient head support. Baby’s head is supported with an open airway and is kept from falling to the sides or backwards.
  • Our products are totally adjustable in order to accommodate different built children and babywearers.
  • When used properly, our wraps, ring slings and carriers provide a center of gravity close to the babywearer’s body to avoid backaches. The child should never be dangling in front or back.
  • The materials are breathable and natural.

A little reminder to never wrap your baby in the “cradle” position. It is a high risk carrying method, in which the chin can slump forward on the chest and the baby can suffocate within a few minutes without making a sound. Next to that the cradle position doesn’t provide a good Spread Squatting Position which is optimal for the hip development of the baby.

Artipoppe woven wraps and ring slings are being designed and finished in the Netherlands. The fabric is woven in Lithuania. The design of our Zeitgeist Baby Carriers is made in the Netherlands. The fabric of our jacquard woven Zeitgeist is woven in Lithuania. The fabric of the denim Zeitgeist is woven in Japan and our Velvet is woven in Italy.  The final product is manufactured in Lithuania.

*we are paying close attention to our merino suppliers and request “mulesing-free” certificates for all merino yarns we source.

If all safety instructions are considered it is advised to use an Artipoppe wrap from birth until both caregiver and child no longer feel comfortable with it.

Consult an expert if your infant was born with a low birth weight, such as a premature or twins, or if your infant has respiratory illness or other respiratory problems. Extra vigilance is required with these babies.

Attend to and check on baby often, especially those under 4 months of age.

The Zeitgeist Baby Carrier is suitable from birth up to 2 years. 3.2 kilograms (15,5 lbs) – 20 kilograms (44 lbs).

For low birthweight babies and children with medical conditions, seek advice from a health professional before using the product.

  • Size 2 (2.70m)
  • Size 3 (3.20m)
  • Size 4 (3.70m)
  • Size 5 (4.20m)
  • Size 6 (4.70m)
  • Size 7 (5.20m)

When selecting what size wrap to purchase it is important to consider what type of carry you would like to do, as well as what size you and your baby are. In general a size 6 is good for a Front Wrap Cross Carry as seen in our “How to wrap?” section. You can pick a shorter size when experimenting other carries, like a rucksack carry or choose a size 7 if extra length is needed.

Please read our “Size Guide” and safety guidelines before you start wrapping.

Always follow washing instructions on the tag.

In general we offer machine washable and hand wash products.

Machine washable:

Wash at a 30 degrees celcius on a delicate programm. Line dry in the shade. Only use liquid detergent and do not use softeners. Do not tumble dry, though a careful tumbling AFTER drying may fluff and soften your wrap to the max. Hot steam iron.

Hand wash:

Swirl in lukewarm water with a gentle liquid detergent (“no-rinse” detergents are not advised, do not use detergents that hold lanolin, both can cause colors to bleed). Rinse gently in clean water, same temperature as the previous bath, do not use running water. Squeeze and press water out without wringing. Fold your wrap between towels and roll up. Press the roll to remove excess water. Dry flat in the shade. Iron on wool or silk setting.
